Like so many little girls in the early 1980’s, my life was suddenly changed by a small plastic toy made by Hasbro called ‘My Little Pony’. A little orange pony with seven apples painted on her bum called ‘Applejack’ came into my life when I was 5. The world would never be the same again!
The wonderful world of ‘My Little Pony’ opened up to me! Gorgeous Unicorns, Sea Ponies, Baby Ponies & even Flutter Ponies (shame about the wings!) all made in brightly coloured plastic, surely this was every 5 year old girls dream come true!?
My sister and I spent hours grooming and organising our pony collection. We even added our own bit of imaginative flair with our own ‘innovative’ haircuts & nail varnish decoration! ;0) Needless to say we loved our ponies and for many years we thought of very little else. After quite some time had past, something happened one day ……. Boys!! It wasn’t long before my treasured ‘My Little Ponies’ were packed away into a big brown box and forgotten.
Some 14 years later in 2004, my sister had her own gorgeous little girl. My thoughts returned to my own childhood and my much adored ponies. After a trip down memory lane and a search of my Mum and Dads attic, I was once again re-acquainted with my big brown box of ‘My Little Ponies’. Since then I haven’t looked back.
A childhood toy has now turned into an adult obsession. I am still in the process of restoring my own collection (oh how I knew those haircuts would come back to bite me!) I also collect job lots of ponies and restore ponies for resale, mainly on Ebay. My real passion is creating custom ponies, where I finally have an outlet for my artistic tendencies!
Finally that brings my pony journey to this website. My poor long suffering husband
(who was, incidentally, a sworn MLP enemy, whom I have since lulled over to the ‘Dark Side’) offered to build me a site to present my customs to the world. Now I can share my love for MLP with all of you lovely collectors. If you have any comments or want to get in touch with me about any MLP related issue feel free to get in touch via the ‘Contact me’ section of the site. Thanks so much for looking at my site. Xx
'For my Grandpa – Thanks for everything, I guess you really started something! x'
